Paper or Plastic?..........Paper definitely Paper!!

With the warmer weather rapidly approaching I started cleaning out my closet and taking an inventory of what I have and what I don't. I discovered that I was in need of some shorts, particularly paper bag shorts. I'm currently in love with this look! I've dressed them down with flats and I've dressed them up with stilettos and either way I still looked effortlessly chic. They come in a myriad of colors, textures, and styles from sporty to fabulous. Whether you want to dress them down or dress them up you won't go wrong either way. The high cinched waist is a lot more flattering than one would think.......

The Bones

It dawned on me today when I was going through my closet getting rid of a couple things that no matter how many trends come and go I always, always have the bones in my closet. What are the bones you ask, the bones are the basic things that should always be in your closet! Lets start with the basic white t-shirt. Nothing looks so effortless and chic than a crisp white t-shirt. They don't have to be expensive in fact I find that the best t-shirt comes right from the mens section. A 5 pack of Hanes "V" or crew neck t-shirts, the fit is simply awesome!

And since we're talking about men's shirts we might as well talk about bone #2, a classic men's white dress shirt. This has got to be one of my favorite pieces to talk from his side of the closet. In the summer I roll up the sleeves, throw on a wide belt, pile on the bracelets, and complete with a killer heel! The crisp simplicity of this shirt will allow you to wear it a million ways!

Denim!! Ahhhh what a great pair of denim will do for you! My Aunt just learned this lesson complements of yours truly! A great pair of jeans can instantly make you walk a little taller, and make your butt seem a little more perfect! They can be dressed up or down. Simple, sexy, and classic.

Cashmere. Everyone should own a piece of cashmere. A cashmere cardigan or turtleneck will add instant polish and make you feel oh so luxe. They both pair great with just about anything!

A trench coat. The trench coat can be so mysterious and sexy and that's just how I feel when I throw my on! Trust me when you put on your trench you'll instantly channel your inner celeb!

Ballet Flats. One must keep a pair of ballet flats for those times when you're running errands, or at the airport! Other than that I see no need for them. LOL I'm a stiletto gal!

And next up is the classic pump! Nothing beats having a great classic pump. Notice I said "classic". Don't get me wrong I'm all for the 6 inch red bottom as the next gal, but you need classic for those times when that won't do. (I know I had a hard time trying to think of that time as well!) The job interview, meeting the parents you know times like that. If it ain't that then go with the hot pink chica's!!

A tote, a clutch, and the in between bag. A tote for the daytime, a clutch for the evening, and a medium bag for those times in between. Got it.....Good! Moving on.

Big girls need big Diamonds! Elizabeth Taylor had it right! (may she rest in peace she was the best!) Diamonds are perfect for any outfit, any season, any reason at all! They work well alone or with a mix of other pieces. And this is the one time fake is fine!

And back to the men's closet we go, a classic men's watch! The big bold face looks simply smashing on a woman's wrist! Need I say more.

And last but certainly not least is my all time favorite! It makes me look and feel oh so chic and adds an instant sex appeal that can not be denied. THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS. This beauty allows you to experiment with your hair, accessories, shoes. Whatever you want to do with this blank canvas you can and you'll look utterly stunning!!

There are many other "bones" that you'll need to fill your closet but these are the basics that will help you build your wardrobe! And with that my friends I bid you farewell! Go out and start investing in some great pieces that will stand the test of time. I'll be back later with some great must haves for Spring/Summer.

Saturday To Do List......

Its 8 AM on a Saturday. You have laundry to do, dry cleaning to drop off, grocery shopping, and a host of other things to do. You want to be comfortable, but you also want to look effortlessly fantastic just incase you run into somebody that you haven't seen in eons and the last time you did see them you looked smashing!! You don't want to don the heels because after all you are doing your Saturday morning running around, so what do you wear? Think comfortable, functional, and sleek! I often go for a great fitting pair of jeans and a tee or leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. Lately its been leggings, an oversized sweatshirt, and a pair of tall black boots. (I'm loosing weight and NONE of my jeans fit!) Whatever you choose just make sure you can make that sprint from the car to the bank before the security guard get there and locks you out!!! Below are some sweet sweats that will look great with a pair of jeans, leggings, cargos, or trousers!

Enjoy

P.S A great pair of sunglasses and a fabulous scarf always ups your chic factor!!

You can get the FINGER!!

One of the most favorite accessories in my jewelry closet (yes I said jewelry closet) is the Cocktail Ring!! It can add a bit of sparkle to my jeans and tee, or complete my red carpet look, and it always, always, gets the conversation started!! I have this Buddha ring with a rhinestone encrusted head that I purchased on ebay and every time I wear it people always stop me and ask where I got it. The thing with the cocktail ring is the BIGGER the BETTER. Give me 4 carats or more. Be bold, be brave, go BIG or go home! Elizabeth Taylor was the best at following this rule so take some inspiration from her. When you're shopping for the cocktail ring and you're in the store trying it on and think "This is way too big" take it to the cashier IMMEDIATELY and BUY! And yes fake is fine, no one really expects you to be able to afford a closet full of real 4 carat rings. If you're having a hard time trying to find the right ring Google Kenneth Jay Lane. Even if you aren't having a hard time still Google the man he is the costume jewelry guru! Just a few to make you want more..........
You can get the finger!

P.S I love the apple and will be getting that one next!!

"YOU'RE LATE FOR TEA!!!!!"

I love when the rabbit says that and throws the tea cup. A little deranged no! This is a lot different from the Alice in Wonderland that I grew up watching. My girls don't fully understand why I won't take them to see the movie, I think its a bit much for them right now (they're 7 and 5.) However I do love the fashion that has been inspired by the film directed by the great Tim Burton, so I let them pick some of their favorite pieces. Some of these are actually my favorites too................
